In its new devotional dynamic, TRUSTING GOD DAY BY DAY, the international speaker and best-selling author of the New York Times Joyce Meyer provides you with powerful "starting points" for each day of the year. Everyday devotion is full of Joyce's practical advice and help along with the life-changing promises of the Word of God that you can apply quickly and easily in your life.
The world wants you to trust your circumstances, your success, your talents and the opinions of others. But God called you to rise above the world and put your full trust in Him - to believe and apply what He promised in His Word more than anything else.
Living in this way will not just happen, you have to be intentional. But where do you start? We all need help to make good choices, fight worries, overcome anxiety and maintain a positive attitude. Using this devotional, readers will learn to grasp life in this way, day by day, with trust in God.
About a year ago, I purchased my first devotional because I wanted to build my relationship with God and thought that devotionals were a good way to start. I really liked the ones I bought then and found it a couple of months ago when I started looking for more. I hadn't read anything about Joyce Meyer but had heard enough positive things about her books, so I decided to give it a try.
This devotional is perfect for the individual who wants to develop a deeper relationship with God by gradually trusting him. Many times we think we know what is best, but it is not always the case (at least this is true for me). I have some areas of my life where I can't manage them alone, so I decided to turn to God with them for some help. I only had this devotional for a month and a half and it is already helping me a lot! I love the way these devotions are made for busy people who only have a few minutes to read one every day and that's enough to read them.
The devotions are dated, so I just started with the date I received it in the mail. There are 365 devotions and it would be nice if there was a devotion for February 29, but you could remedy it by rereading a previous devotion or skipping to a random one. Each day begins with a theme and a Bible verse that refers to the theme of devotion, most of which are taken from the amplified Bible, unless otherwise indicated. So most of the devotion is Joyce's thoughts and evidence from the Bible about how we could change our attitude about throwing our worries (October 9), being a blessing to others (October 6) and managing everything we life gives us (August 24), just to name a few. In part, it is his life experience that really helps put devotion into perspective. Finally, the devotion ends with a "Trust Him" section which provides some questions or statements to think about. I would say that any devotion takes no more than two or three minutes to read, especially if you read it at a slower pace to digest it more.
I purchased the hardcover edition because I like the idea of keeping my devotions. This is beautiful and has a yellow rose on a green weathered hardwood background. It has 437 pages and the book measures 5 1/4 inches by 7 1/4 inches by 1 3/8 inches. It is a good size, so you can put it in your bag, backpack, briefcase or other luggage. It is not gender specific like some devotionals, so I think both men and women can enjoy this devotional.
I love how devotions are always what I need to hear that day and it's always something I can work on. Excellently, I like to read well when I wake up, before the morning chaos begins, so I have time to think about what I read. There have been times when I haven't been able to read it until the afternoon and I am agitated and a little more irritable than usual, so I try hard to read it early in the morning. For me, this is a great mood stimulator and it helps me to trust God more. I have only had it for a month and a half, but I already love it and feel that it is helping me a lot. I bought a couple of other devotionals from Joyce Meyer but that's what I keep going back to. I was excited enough to get it that I ordered one for my sister and she loves it too! If you are a busy person who wants to start (or continue) to trust God more and want to read a daily devotion, this is a great option. It is also a great gift and I highly recommend it!
