The Book with No Pictures

A New York Times bestseller, this innovative and incredibly fun bed aloud from award-winning humorist / actor B.J. Novak will turn any reader into a comedian.
You may think that a book without images seems boring and serious. Except. . . this is how books work. Everything that is written on the page must be said by the person who reads it out loud. Even if the words say. . .

BLORK. OR BLUURF.

Even if the words are an absurd song about eating ants for breakfast, or just a list of surprisingly silly sounds like BLAGGITY BLAGGITY and GLIBBITY GLOBBITY.

Cleverly irreverent and irresistibly silly, The Book with No Pictures is one that children will beg to listen to again and again. (And parents will be happy to oblige.)

I hardly wrote a review for this because so many people have already expressed the same opinions ... BUT then I realized that the book deserves a million five-star reviews. I saw a five-year transition from saying that he didn't want to listen to the book because he had no pictures to laugh hysterically and try to read everything on his own.

Content: It is basically silly with some nonsense words and absurd statements. There is no doubt that this is a fun book. It aims to make children laugh and entertain reading. If he has some kind of moral teaching, he would avoid making assumptions. (Sort of the proverbial "don't judge a book by the cover" message) I've heard some say he doesn't like the hippopotamus being called BooBooButt. It is a personal thing. I thought it was fun. I think it's the only slightly controversial line in the book.

Character, length, vocabulary: I love bold black letters. They are easy to read for both beginners and old tired eyes. The length was perfect for young readers who may not have a long period of attention. The choice of words was fantastic. The author chose mostly simple words to understand. There were some isolated phrases that were more complicated and perfect for developing vocabulary skills. (i.e. absolutely absurd).
